Homemade Peppermint Bark
Ingredients:
1 ½ tsp – Vegetable Oil
½ tsp – Peppermint extract
4 oz (113 g)- Semi-sweet chocolate, high quality (1 bar baking chocolate)
8 oz (227 g) – White chocolate, high quality (2 bars baking chocolate)
3 – Candy Canes
Takes about two hours to make
Creates about four 3’ bars
Procedure:
- Get a 9 to 8 inch pan and cover the bottom and sides with wax paper or tin foil
- Take a heatproof bowl and melt one bar of white chocolate in the microwave for 1 minute, then test the consistency with a spatula. Follow up by heating the chocolate at 10 second increments until thoroughly melted, or else it will turn into crystallized sugar
- Once melted, stir in ¼ teaspoon peppermint extract
- With a spatula, spread the melted chocolate onto the pan in a layer about 2 cm thick
- Stick the layer in the fridge for 20 minutes, or in the freezer for 15 minutes
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 for the semi-sweet chocolate bar with a ½ teaspoon of vegetable oil, then cover melted chocolate over hardened layer of white chocolate. Repeat step 5
- Repeat steps 2 – 4 for the white chocolate
- Before the top layer hardens, crush the 3 candy canes and sprinkle on top of the chocolate, then repeat step 5
- You can cut up the bark to make it more presentable, but however you do it, it’ll be delicious!
