New Stores in the Purcellville Gateway

The summer of 2012 brought Purcellville its third supermarket, Harris Teeter, and the opening of the Purcellville Gateway Center.  Right away, Harris Teeter was a huge success, partly due to the in-store Starbucks.

“I was so happy when Starbucks opened,” said senior Sam Weber.  “I just love coffee.”

Not only does the Gateway give easier access to shops and other businesses, it also gives local teenagers options for summer or part-time jobs.  It is quite plausible that we can see the same popularity with the newest shops and restaurants opening in the Gateway because it has been the talk of the town among most teens and young adults since its opening.  For teen interest, there are three notable restaurants, shops, and recreational sites going into the Gateway: IJ Canns, Top Kick Martial Arts, and Coach’s Corner Grill.

IJ Canns is a family-friendly American grill offering a wide assortment of appetizers, salads, entrees and desserts.  It also brings in live weekly music events from local bands in their lounge.  IJ Canns has had great success in Winchester, Virginia, and received the 2012 CMUS Talk of the Town Customer Satisfaction Award.

Top Kick is a taekwondo center offering lessons and jobs to the people of Northern Virginia.  For years, it has provided towns like South Riding and Potomac Falls with quality and fun and now stretches its limits out to Purcellville.  This will be a big help to many, since most people enrolled in taekwondo currently travel to studios in Leesburg or Ashburn for lessons.

“I think the Gateway offers great opportunities for businesses,” said  Ashley Powers, 2012 Woodgrove graduate and receptionist for Top Kick.  “It offers existing businesses expansion which will make it easier to drive here instead of commuting all the way to Leesburg.”

Coach’s Corner is a new sports bar and grill that offers a great sports-oriented atmosphere and hearty meals, such as ribs and steak.  This is also a great place for many athletes to go once a game or practice is finished to regain their energy and have a good time.

Senior Cheyenne Good is one of many looking forward to Coach’s Corner’s grand opening.  “I’m really excited for its opening because I love ball-park hotdogs,” said Cheyenne.

As the Purcellville Gateway grows, so will its popularity, and the variety of new businesses will help considerably.  As development grows, additional stores are planning to open, such as Dental Smiles Orthodontics, Hair Cuttery, a nail salon, and a SunTrust Bank.
