Dylan Mellor Profiled on CNN Money

Woodgrove senior Dylan Mellor was recently profiled on CNN Money in a series on students who were accepted into their dream school.   CNN Money revealed how the football star and academic achiever ended his senior year by committing to Dartmouth College, an Ivy League school.

Although Dartmouth’s acceptance rate for 2015 decreased, Mellor had a variety of top- notch qualities that earned him his position. Along with playing football as a wide-receiver, Mellor also maintained an A average and received a 2250 on his SAT.

Mellor is also very well-rounded. He mentors elementary and middle-school students, and he is involved in a number of different clubs and service projects.  He also works at the Nike Factory store from 5 pm until closing on most days.

As for mentoring, Mellor said, “As much as the younger kids get out of it, I get a lot out of it, too. We’ve all been there, and all had to fight through struggles. It’s so great to feel like you’re contributing to someone’s life. It’s something I hold dear to my heart.”

According to Mellor, playing football has opened many doors for him.  “When I told the coach I’d be coming to Dartmouth, I looked over and my mom was bawling.  That was one of the best moments of my life.”
