UNICEF Benefit Concert

On Wednesday, March 22, Woodgrove hosted a benefit concert for the United Nations Children’s Fund, also known as UNICEF. All the proceeds will go to helping children. Kicking off the night, a punk rock band from Loudoun Valley, “Three Handsome Gentlemen”, made an appearance, playing a few of their songs and telling a couple jokes.

Cameron Stack was up next with “Gold to Me” by Ben Harper. Carl Pine and John Russell then joined in for “Come Together” by the Beatles and a couple of others.  Robbie, Joe, and Erin were up next with an original song, “Cough Syrup,” and “Hey, Soul Sister” by Train. The Blue Grass Club appeared next with some instrumental songs and “I’ll Fly Away” by Randy Crawford.

After intermission, “The Immortals”—with only their drummer and bass because the rest couldn’t make the show—played two original pieces they wrote. “Laughing Mask” sang their original song, “Change” and “Half the World Away” by Oasis. Lydia Sophiani sang “Begin Again” by Colby Caillat, “Stay” by Sugarland, and “Ours” by Taylor Swift. Jocelyn Westray sang next followed by Kim Pittinger and Liv Hutton to conclude the concert.

Overall, it was an awesome performance from all the entertainers with an interactive audience. The crowd seemed to appreciate that both Woodgrove and Valley could come together for a good cause.
