Woodgrove Progresses through Basketball Tournament

By Erin Traub

This past Saturday, February 9th, was a big day for Dulles District boys basketball. Four of the ten teams had to play at Tuscarora High School in Leesburg to finalize the standings before the district tournament starts on Monday the 11th.

Loudoun Valley and Potomac Falls, both 16-2, played for the number one seed of the tournament and the regular season title. Woodgrove and Park View, both 3-15, played for the number eight seed. With ten teams in the district, only the top eight are eligible in the single elimination format.

Woodgrove beat Park View, 61-51, at 4pm. Potomac Falls beat Loudoun Valley in the nightcap, 64-48. These victories mean that eighth-seeded Woodgrove and the first seed, Potomac Falls, will play Monday the 11th at Potomac Falls in the first round.

Loudoun Valley and Dominion will play at Valley in their first round game. The tournament is single elimination with the winner advancing to the next round; the top two teams advance to the Regional tournament, along with any other Dulles district teams with enough points from the regular season to advance.
