Ohio State Defeats Oregon in the BCS National Championship

The Ohio State Buckeyes were victorious against the Oregon Ducks in the BCS National Title game held at AT&T stadium in Arlington, Texas on January 12. The Buckeyes were not a favorite going into the final- four playoff bracket, with some critics wondering if they even belonged there in the first place.

Ezekiel Elliot, a key player and running back for Ohio State, rushed for 246 yards and had a total of four touchdowns. The Buckeyes defense also had a phenomenal performance holding Oregon to its lowest point total this season.

In the trophy presentation Ohio States head coach Urban Meyer said, “The chase is complete, it’s done. It’s over. They accepted their final mission, their assignment and their final directive and they did it.”

This is the university’s eighth national championship in school history and Meyer’s third national title. Meyer won the previous two titles at the University of Florida.

Ohio State did not have an easy path getting to the National Championship Game having to first overcome number one ranked Alabama, which is always a powerhouse when it comes to football. All in all Ohio State proved that they deserved to be national champions and wrapped up their season with a record of 14-1.
