Woodgrove versus Loudoun Valley Basketball

The Woodgrove Wolverines Varsity Basketball teams are full swing into their season, and continued their journey Saturday night across Purcellville to visit their rivals, Loudoun Valley.


Woodgrove’s Varsity Men’s team fell behind early, and could never quite get back on top, as they fell to Valley 78­67.


Junior Carl Huber led the Wolverines with 16 points, while Senior Kevin Hernandez had a strong game of the bench, and helped Woodgrove stay in the fight until the final moments of the fourth quarter.


Loudoun Valley and Woodgrove are in a tight race for the ranks in the region.


Loudoun Valley has a one game lead in the division standing at 5­2, while Woodgrove trails close behind at 4­3.


The Woodgrove Women’s Basketball team also took to the court against Valley Saturday night, and came out victorious 45­37.


Senior Brooke Basinger dropped 14 points, including 2 assists and 3 rebounds. While Junior Hallie Daughtry added 11 points to the total, also recording 3 offensive rebounds.


With the regular season close to a finish, the Wolverine Men’s and Women’s basketball teams look to continue their winning ways into the playoffs.
