Woodgrove Volleyball Finishes Historic Season at State-Semis; Minniti 1st Team All State.

Woodgrove Volleyball advanced to VHSL 4A State Semi-finals in a record breaking season, finishing first in the conference and second in the region.

After beating Sherando in the Conference 21 West finals, they fell short to Loudoun County High school in the Region finals, but still advanced to the state semi-finals.

Woodgrove lost to Loudoun County 0-3. Junior Carolyn Cain led the team in kills with seven total. Seniors Sarah Root, Kristen Mathews, and Kira Riddlemoser all had one block each. Senior Dorothy Dimitrew had eleven digs, and Senior Morgan Minniti had sixteen assists.

On November 12, the volleyball team traveled down to Williamsburg to take on Jamestown High School in the state semi- finals. The team did not advance, but still had impressive stats. The team was led by Root who had seven kills and three blocks. Cain led the team in digs with sixteen, and also led in service points with seven. Minniti had the most assists, totaling twenty-four.

Several team members qualified for the All-Conference, All- Region, and All-State teams. First Team All-Conference girls from Woodgrove consisted of Carolyn Cain, Dorothy Dimitrew, Morgan Minniti, and Sarah Root. Senior Morgan Minniti made First Team All-Region, and Dorothy Dimitrew and Sarah Root made Second Team All-Region. Carolyn Cain was an honorable mention for the All-Region Team. Minniti was honored as All-state first team choice.
