NHL Recap


The holiday season marks the halfway point of the NHL season, which means that the All-Star break is near.  The brightest stars of this season will be named to the All-Star teams shortly, and the game will be held on January 30-31, 2016 in Nashville, Tennessee.

At about 30 games into the season, the leaders in the Eastern Conference are the Montreal Canadians, Washington Capitals, New York Islanders, New York Rangers, and the Detroit Red Wings.  In the Western Conference, the leaders of the pack are the Dallas Stars, Los Angeles Kings, St. Louis Blues, Minnesota Wild, and the Chicago Blackhawks.

Teams that have been tearing it up lately are the Washington Capitals with a record of 20-8-3, the New York Islanders at 18-8-5, and the Los Angeles Kings at 19-8-2.

Leading the league in points and assists is Patrick Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks.  Kane has also extended his consecutive point streak to 26 games. Jamie Benn of the Dallas Stars is leading in goals, with 20.  Leading in ‘goals against average’ and wins as a goalie is Braden Holtby, the keeper for the Washington Capitals.  Save percentage leader is Michal Neuvirth of the Philadelphia Flyers with a .939.
