The Purcellville Cannons is a collegiate baseball team that recruits players from colleges around the country and places those players on a summer travel team. The Cannons were originally at home in Winchester, but due to lack of attendance and sponsors, they moved to Purcellville.

Since Loudoun Valley High School recently got new fields for most of their teams, Fireman’s Field, which used to be Valley’s old field, is now home to the Cannons.  Relocating to Purcellville was a beneficial solution for the Cannons because Purcellville is a huge baseball town.

General Manager and third base coach of the Cannons, Ridge Fuller, said, “I am tremendously excited about making the move to Purcellville. Our reception in Purcellville has been great. We have been met with open arms by the community, and I am grateful for their response. So far, we have sold over 200 family passes and are expecting anywhere between 500-1500 fans per night.”

Representing 24 colleges from around the country, the Cannons are a very diverse group of players, coming from schools such as Alabama State University, SUNY Old Westbury in New York, and Santa Fe College.

As for the local community being represented on this team, Nick Feight from Battlefield High School, and Will & Matt Reed from Loudoun Valley are representing Loudoun and Prince William counties.

The team will play all through the summer, from early June to early August, usually having five-six games a week.

Sponsorships and tickets are available for the team.  Since these players are traveling from around the country, residents of Purcellville can also host a player.  In addition, citizens can involve themselves with their team by providing summer jobs, financially supporting the teams, and by regularly attending games.
