Wrestling:

The Wolverine Wrestling Team kicked off its season at the Hedgesville Duals this weekend(December 5th).  The team wrestled a total of ten dual meets in two days of action, finishing with a record of 9-1.  Without going into specific results the cumulative scores on the weekend were as follows: Woodgrove 579 Opponents 158.  None of our wrestlers finished with a losing record on the weekend.  Some of the outstanding performances included:  Catie Cavallaro, Garrett Tardiff and Derek Shockey all went undefeated at 10-0. Zach Stanley went 9-1.  Connor Sisk and Joe Candelaria went 8-2. Ivan Adams went 8-1. Will Fincher and Drew Oliver went 7-3.

(December 12th)team finished 2nd out of 22 teams at the Mad Mats tournament at Magruder HS in Maryland.  Teams from Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania were represented.  Leading the way were finals:  Derek Shockey – Champion at 126.  Jarrett Tardiff and Yadel Schnable – 2nd place.  Other placers included:  Catie Cavallaro- 3rd place.  Connor Sisk, Tad Szalay, Kyle Dant and Zach Stevens – 4th place.

Drew Oliver-5th place.  Congrats on an outstanding effort.  The Wolverine Wrestlers next compete at home Wednesday evening against Potomac Falls and Jefferson, WV.

 

(December 19th)  finished third this weekend at the Loudoun County championships.  Congratulations to individual winners:  Zach Stanley – champion.  Catie Cavallaro, Derek Shockey and Joe Candelaria – 2nd place finishes. Yadel Schnabel and Kyle Dant – 3rd place.  Connor Sisk and Drew Oliver – 4th place.  Will Fincher and Jack Candelaria – 5th place.  Ivan Adams – 6th place.
