Getting into the Fall Spirit: Wolverines Take on the Season!

The weather’s getting cooler, school’s well underway, and Starbucks’ seasonal creamers have found their way back to grocery store shelves. Fall is upon us. Some of Woodgrove’s finest share activities that pump up the pumpkin season.

Fall of 2020 was filled with restrictions and empty streets due to the pandemic. “I was out on Halloween last year with my little brothers, and it was like a ghost town at some points; it was wholly different,” says Woodgrove Senior Jack Hughes. This year, things are looking up! Fairs and festivals have found their way back to town calendars and kids are making plans to trick or treat.

A fun, free fall activity is hiking. For a closer look at autumn beauty, embark upon one of the spectacular hiking trails right here in Loudoun County. Try Hollow Brook Trail, Raven Rocks Hike, Blackburn Trail Center, or Buzzard Rock North Trail. Heighten your hiking experience by listening to a fall curated playlist.

Picturesque pumpkin patches are the epitome of fall fun. With apple cider donuts, hay rides, corn mazes, and pumpkin fields, the possibilities are endless. There are plenty of pumpkin patches in the area: Pumpkin Village Fall Fest in Leesburg, Great Country Farms in Bluemont, and Wayside Farm in Berryville.

You don’t have to leave your house to get into the fall spirit! Spend time with your family and make new memories. Try crafting, reading, or cooking. Freshman Jada Longenecker says her favorite fall memory is making oysters with her grandparents on Thanksgiving Day. Another relaxing way to spend time with family is to watch a fall comfort show.
