Many students can attest to the positivity that Mrs. Linda Palmisano brings to Woodgrove High School every day.  Residing in room 409, Mrs. P has been making many of Woodgrove’s students’ days brighter whilst teaching chemistry and conceptual physics. Palmisano grew up in the city of Baltimore Maryland, and went to college to study biology.  During her years at college, she was asked to participate in a chemistry survey, which is what would eventually lead her to a love of chemistry. After getting her degree, Palmisano worked at a pharmaceutical company manufacturing synthetic estrogen and researching new medicines.  She worked at this company until she had her son, which convinced her to become a stay at home mom.

She stayed at home until he went to elementary school, where she became a substitute teacher at Blue Ridge Elementary. After working with students, she found her love for teaching and began her new career by teaching elementary students. She eventually transitioned to teaching science at Broad Run High School. Eventually she left, coming to teach at Woodgrove during the pandemic in 2020.

She shares that her favorite part about being a teacher at Woodgrove is getting to spend time with students. “When you work with young people, there is never a dull moment.” Many students value Palmisano as their favorite teacher, including senior Bailey Carter. Carter explained, “She is my favorite teacher because she is funny and she treats you like a real person. She gives some of the best advice that you can get anywhere for free.”

Carter  remarked, “Having a teacher like her is probably the greatest thing you can hope for.” Palmisano plans on staying at Woodgrove until retirement. When asked when this will be, she simply replied, “I will retire when I don’t like it anymore, but right now I like it.”
