Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009)

This Michael Bay film is the sequel to Transformers (2007) and includes an action-packed explosion of familiar faces, such as the classic Optimus Prime and his relentless foe, Megatron. In this installment, the protagonists work alongside a secret government organization to face a devastating Decepticon, named The Fallen, that threatens Earth.

A scene of this movie was filmed in the Udvar-Hazy center, an annex of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, in Fairfax County. Instead of curious visitors, the memorialized vehicles were surrounded by camera crews as they shot a dramatic surprise with the crowd-pleasing SR-71.

Foxcatcher (2014)

Bennett Miller’s Foxcatcher is about a wealthy man, John du Pont, who invites Olympic wrestler Mark Schultz to his house to help form their own wrestling team for the 1988 Olympics. The story takes a daunting twist when Pont starts tempting Schultz with a dark path.

Wonder Woman: 1984 (2020) – Jennifer Heffron  Harmony Middle School

Another classic DC installment following the adventures of Diana Prince, Wonder Woman, who is living a quiet normal life among humans. She is performing small heroic acts until she comes face to face with Maxwell Lord and the Cheetah, a villain who acquires superhuman strength and agility.

The tense action-scene through a visitor-packed shopping center was filmed in Alexandria, VA in the Landmark Mall. Although people can still visit the site, most of the mall has been demolished in favor of hospital and office real estate.

The Silence of the Lambs (1991)

Clarice Starling is a top student at the FBI’s training facility and is looking for a brute serial killer. To help catch the perpetrator and understand his motives, she seeks help from another killer, Dr. Hannibal Lecter, who is currently imprisoned.

The shots of Clarice Starling’s FBI workplace is an actual FBI office in Quantico, VA. If citizens wish to visit this area, there is an option to book tours up to five months in advance. Although, people hoping to uncover secrets will likely find themselves empty-handed.
