Around this time in the winter students hit a drag. Students are outside less and therefore motivation may plummet. Oftentimes when this occurs and it feels impossible to find the energy to finish homework and turn in assignments on time, a change of scenery is the answer. Instead of staying at home as usual, trying to work in a different environment usually helps students find new motivation to focus and be productive. Therefore, ranked below systematically are the best study spaces Purcellville has to offer.

Notes: The Purcellville Library has a plethora of study resources and a quiet environment to help boost productivity. Along with plenty of personal computers and all the books you could ask for, they also offer three separate private study rooms on a first-come, first-served basis. These study rooms are small, but have a large whiteboard on the wall, plenty of desk space and offer a very secluded environment that makes it easy to focus. There are also large tables for group work, reliable internet, and plenty of outlets for charging devices.

Table space:             8/10

Volume:                  5/10

Comfort:               5/5

Food/Drink:       5/5

Resources:         2/10

Total:              25/40

Notes: Doppio Bunny Coffee offers a classic coffee shop atmosphere along with superb  food and caffeinated beverages. They boast lots of seating options, including high tables, leather chairs, and couches, to fit students’ study preferences. They have lots of table space and many outlets. While there is music and plenty of chatter, it is not a deafening amount and can be blocked out with noise-cancelling headphones.

Starbucks

Table space:             7/10

Volume:                  3/10

Comfort:               4/5

Food/Drink:       4/5

Resources:         2/10

Total:              20/40

Notes: For many people, Starbucks is the first place they think of when they need somewhere to sit and get work done. This makes it very popular for attempted productivity, however it does not offer as much for students as the Purcellville Library or Doppio Bunny Coffee does. The space is quite loud, even with noise cancelling headphones, due to all the loud coffee machines and upbeat music playing. While the food and drink is serviceable, there are better alternatives.
