Spring Players To Watch

Another Woodgrove sports season is coming up and here are some athletes you should keep an eye on.

Softball

After she made the switch over from baseball, Senior Annika Rohs started playing softball at age 12. Rohs is pursuing her academic and softball career at Virginia Tech and offers a piece of advice: “Don’t take your four years for granted. Listen and respect what your coaches do for you; they put in a lot of time and effort that is underappreciated and not seen.”

Women’s Lacrosse

Junior Teagan Lowery has been playing lacrosse since first grade. Lowery is continuing her education and lacrosse career at Arizona State University. Her advice to underclassmen is to, “put in the hard work. During your career there will be people who will tear you down and want you to fail. Learn to grind and prove everyone wrong.”

Baseball

Senior Ben Tomlinson’s favorite memory was going 5 for 5 at bat against number one seed Freedom High School, during his sophomore year. Tomlinson has been playing baseball since he was five years old. From being a long time athlete, Tomlinson says, “We always succeed when we have some flair and fun to our game.”

Men’s Lacrosse

Senior Logan Yost led in goals, assists, and ground balls last year as a Wolverine. He was also named to the All-District team and committed to play at Newberry College next year. After playing lacrosse for ten years, he picked Newberry because of its nationally ranked lacrosse program, ten million dollar renovation, and his love for the coaches and the players.

Women’s Soccer

Senior Anna Cristofano has been playing soccer since she was five. Cristofano is furthering her education and athletic career at Shepherd University. Her advice to underclassmen would be to, “make sure you take care of yourselves off the field as well. The biggest thing for me was making sure I had recovery days and didn’t kill my body seven days a week.
