Kanye West’s Recent Controversies

In recent weeks Kanye West, name recently changed to Ye, has made vulgar and antisemitic remarks towards those of Jewish background and continues to remain a polarizing figure in the music industry.

The worst of the controversy began when he showed up to his Yeezy Season Nine show wearing a “White Lives Matter” T-shirt during Paris Fashion Week. This controversy seemed to start a chain reaction that furthered his decline. His antisemitic remarks began when a direct message screenshot between him and another rapper’s messages were shared where he made a nonsensical declaration of war against Jewish people. On December 2nd, in an interview with Alex Jones he said, “I love Jewish people,” as well as saying he “loves Nazis.” These insensitive messages have led him to being canceled on most of the internet.

Ye has lost sponsors and said goodbye to his billionaire status. With the famous rapper also being taken off Twitter and Instagram, he’ll have a more difficult time spreading hateful messages.
